Dr. Catherine Lockhart Joining St. Mary's Neuro Specialists

Catherine Lockhart, D.O., chief neurology resident at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, Ill., is joining St. Mary's Neurological Specialists effective Aug. 5.

St. Mary's Neurological Specialists provides outpatient care for people with a wide range of neurological conditions and needs, including headache, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, peripheral nerve disorders, dementia, neuromuscular diseases, sleep disorders, spinal cord disorders, stroke prevention, and stroke follow-up care. Dr. Lockhart joins Dr. Angela McSwain and Dr. Michael Steadham in the practice.

Dr. Lockhart received her bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, in chemistry with a concentration in biochemistry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She earned her medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine's campus in Bradenton, Fla., and has completed her neurology residency at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, including serving for the past year as chief resident.

Among her publications and lectures are studies on hard-to-diagnose posterior circulation stroke, neurologic complications of illicit drug use, vertigo, and swelling of the brain and spinal cord caused by amoeba.

Dr. Lockhart is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Osteopathic Association. She enjoys movies, hiking, art, travel and music.
