2018 Downtown Athens Parade of Lights Video on ACTV Until December 31st & Available Online

ACTV, the Athens-Clarke County government access television channel, is broadcasting a video of the 2018 Downtown Athens Parade of Lights daily at 1:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. except when pre-empted by rebroadcasts of the Mayor & Commission December 4 Regular Session meeting on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m. ACTV will air the parade through Sunday, December 31. The video runs approximately 109 minutes.

The parade video is also available online for on-demand viewing through the Athens-Clarke County website at www.accgov.com/parade or www.accgov.com/videos and the official Athens-Clarke County YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/accgov. Residents with a Roku, Apple TV, or other streaming video device can find the ACCGOV YouTube channel through the YouTube app by searching for 'accgov.'

ACTV is programmed and managed by the Athens-Clarke County Public Information Office. ACTV can be viewed on Charter Cable Channel 180, University Cablevision Channel 6, and online. ACTV’s programming schedule is available at www.accgov.com/actv

The parade originally took place on Thursday, December 6, 2018 and was filmed by Brimms & Riggs Productions. Blu-ray copies or digital downloads of the parade video are available for a fee from the production company through a link at www.accgov.com/parade.  

The 2018 Downtown Athens Parade of Lights featured 77 entries. The 2018 parade award winners are:

  • Athens Jaycees - Most Original (Nonprofit)

  • Campus Community - Best Use of Theme (Gov’t / School / Church)

  • Athens Montessori School - Best Use of Lights (Gov’t / School / Church)

  • Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste - Most Original (Gov’t / School / Church)

  • Barnett Shoals Showstoppers - Best Performing Unit (Dance / Twirl)

  • Clarke Central High School - Best Performing Unit (Marching Bands / Military)
