Free Family Programs Offered at Sandy Creek Nature Center

The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department will present a variety of nature education programs for families this spring at Sandy Creek Nature Center.

“Nature’s Trading Post” is scheduled for Saturdays, October 6, and November 3 from 11:00 a.m.– noon. The trading post is open! Trade one or two objects you have found in nature for points or other natural objects in our collection.

“Naturalist’s Walks” are planned for Saturdays, September 8, October 6, November 3 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Join naturalists as we discover the beauty of fall. “Trick or Trees” is the theme for October. November's theme is “Bring Your Dog.” Bring binoculars, a camera, and a sense of adventure.

“Critter Tales” will take place Saturdays, September 8, October 6, and November 3 from 2:30 – 3:00 p.m. Participants will hear a story about nature and then staff will bring it to life by visiting a critter or going outdoors for an activity. A different tale is read each month.

All of these programs are free of charge and registration is not required.
