East Central District Earns $3.6M in Awards

Three Georgia Department of Transportation project awards totaling over $3 million cover traffic signal safety, bridge rehab and interstate striping.

The following counties were including in early August project announcements.

Morgan/Newton County: This $1.56 million project consists of a complete signal upgrade with pedestrian accommodations for every intersection. This would bring these intersections up to ADA requirements and replace old signal parts. The project was awarded to Brooks-Berry-Haynie & Associates, Inc. with a Sept. 30, 2019 completion date.

Newton County: Project scope covers striping and pavement marking upgrades on Interstate 20 from the Rockdale County line to east of John R. Williams Highway. Peek Pavement Marking LLC earned the $507,000 bid award and should be complete before June 30, 2019.

Bleckley/Emanuel/Laurens/Treutlen County: Bridge preservation worth $1.59 million is coming to 14 Interstate 16 bridges courtesy of S&D Industrial Painting, Inc. with a Jan. 31, 2020 completion date. Work will include painting the steel superstructure and replacing bridge joints spanning these four counties.
