Piedmont Athens Regional Opens Royston Health Campus

Staff Report From Athens CEO

Tuesday, November 7th, 2017

Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center is expanding services with the opening of the new Royston Health Campus, which will provide outpatient imaging services.

“Piedmont’s Royston Health Campus provides convenient healthcare options to the patients we serve outside of the Athens-Clarke County area,” said Dr. Charles Peck, Piedmont Athens Regional president and CEO. “We’re bringing the same, high-quality care directly to the people in the Franklin, Hart and Madison County communities.”

Piedmont Athens Regional acquired the existing imaging center, formally known as Royston Diagnostic Center, to increase access to diagnostic imaging, ultrasounds, CT scans, MRIs, mammograms and other Piedmont Athens Regional imaging services. 3D mammogram technology, called tomosynthesis, will be added to the imaging services provided at Piedmont’s Royston Health Campus.

The Royston Health Campus addition comes just six months after Piedmont Athens Regional opened the Oconee Health Campus, located at 1305 Jennings Mill Road in Watkinsville. The Oconee Health Campus provides several outpatient services, including Piedmont Urgent Care, rehabilitation, a breast health center, and Piedmont Heart of Athens – the most recent addition to the campus.

“We hope to bring the same Oconee experience to the Piedmont’s Royston Health Campus,” Peck said. “By moving into new communities, we will be better able to meet the needs of the patients we serve and improve the quality of healthcare in northeast Georgia.”

Piedmont’s Royston Health Campus is located at 930 Franklin Springs St. in Royston. For more information, visit piedmont.org or call (706) 246-9729.
