Argo Joins Athens Internal Medicine Associates

Milene Argo, M.D., a primary care physician specializing in adult internal medicine, has joined Athens Internal Medicine Associates.

Argo works to create a relationship with patients that promotes trust and open communication, whether the patient has an ordinary cold or a complex chronic condition. She will provide adult wellness and routine sick care, including ordering tests, diagnosing problems, prescribing medication and referring patients to specialists as needed.

AIMA, part of St. Mary’s Medical Group, is located in the Resource Medical Park at 1500 Oglethorpe Ave., Suite 400B, Athens. New patients are now being accepted by calling (706) 548-8600, with appointments generally available within a day or two.

A resident of Commerce, Argo comes to AIMA from Demorest, where she has been practicing at Heritage Internal Medicine, part of Habersham Health Center, since June 2011. She also has served as medical director of United Hospice in Gainesville since 2009. Prior to joining Heritage, Argo practiced with Hill Medical Group in Homer from 2006-11 and with Atlanta Medical Center from 2001-06.

Argo attended the University of Georgia before earning her bachelor’s degree in biology with high honors from Georgia Institute of Technology. She earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and completed her residency in 2001 at Atlanta Medical Center, where she also served as an internal medicine attending physician from 2001-05. She continues to serve as a clinical assistant professor at the Augusta University department of medicine.

In addition to her certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Argo is certified by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
