Georgia United Credit Union is partnering with the IRS and the University of Georgia’s College of Family and Consumer Sciences to provide a volunteer tax income assistance program for Athens.

The program will provide free tax return assistance to people with low to moderate income who do not have depreciable property, business losses or extensive stock transactions. Sessions are available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings until April 13 and on Saturdays until April 8.

The sessions will be held at the credit union’s 190 Gaines School Road branch. Last year, the volunteer tax income assistance program helped 856 people get $1,089,807 in federal refunds and $239,968 in state refunds.
