BankSouth, a family-owned community bank, invites the Oconee County community to join them in a celebration to honor and support all law enforcement officers of Oconee County at a special community picnic on Saturday, November 5, 2016, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at BankSouth located at 7911 Macon Highway in Watkinsville.

BankSouth’s community picnic will honor those individuals and their families who serve in Oconee County.  This includes the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, Watkinsville Police Department, Georgia State Patrol, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Attendees will enjoy family-friendly fun featuring live music by James Hunter and the Southern Pride Band, special exhibits, and lunch provided by Zaxby’s, the premier event sponsor.

“This is a great opportunity for the community to come together and support those who are putting their lives on the line for citizens every day,” said Bob Slocum, Watkinsville market manager at BankSouth. “Their work often goes unrecognized, and this community picnic is just a small token of our appreciation.”

Sheriff Scott Berry said, “Given the current environment, I am overwhelmed with this outpouring of support by the community. Our officers and staff are really excited about this appreciation picnic.”

Proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships will go to the Georgia Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc..  GA-C.O.P.S. is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that serves as a support group for surviving families, friends, and co-workers of law officers killed in the line of duty.  Furthermore, GA-C.O.P.S. is a resource to law enforcement agencies whenever they experience a line of duty casualty.
