Herb Gilmore, Longtime Civic Presence in Athens, Dies at 59

Herb Gilmore, a longtime presence in Athens-Clarke County’s political, business and civic arenas, has died at the age of 59.
Gilmore, who passed away last Saturday, and for whom funeral services where held Wednesday at Billups Grove Baptist Church, was most recently involved in the community’s political life as a candidate for the District 3 seat on the Athens-Clarke County Commission in balloting last May.
