Sachin Shailendra, a member of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, will share his career highlights when he addresses the University of Georgia student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers on Feb. 18 from 5:45-7 p.m. in Driftmier Auditorium, 597 D.W. Brooks Drive.

UGA President Jere W. Morehead will introduce Shailendra to the audience. The public is invited to attend.

Shailendra is president of SG Contracting, an Atlanta-based general contracting and construction management company. He will discuss his professional background, provide an overview of his company, share his thoughts on construction management as a career choice and offer career advice to soon-to-be graduates.

Shailendra currently serves on the boards of the Atlanta Opera and the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Sports Network and on the advisory council for Woodward Academy as an alumnus of the institution. Last year, he was named one of Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “40 Under 40.”

“We are honored to have someone of Mr. Shailendra’s stature speak to our student chapter,” said Abby Caballero, president of UGA’s ASCE chapter. “Certainly his experience and expertise will be enlightening to the audience. Having President Morehead in our midst will be an added benefit.”

UGA ASCE students are practicing and aspiring civil engineers. ASCE membership offers students a community of professional interconnection, continuing education and lifelong resources. In 2014, UGA’s civil engineering department was named an American Concrete Institute Outstanding University for the third year in a row.
