Dr. Andrea Daniel, president of Athens Technical College, has been elected to a second three-year term on the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges board of directors as part of the eight-member Georgia delegation.

SACSCOC, which met for its annual meeting on Dec. 3-6, 2022 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, is the body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states and certain other international sites. It employs an accountable and transparent peer review process that assures educational quality and integrity, fosters continuous self-improvement, and promotes student success.

The College Delegate Assembly (CDA) includes one voting representative (the chief executive officer) from each accredited institution. It elects seventy-seven members to the SACSCOC Board of Trustees to guide the organization’s work and to implement the accreditation process.

Prior to becoming president in 2016, Daniel served as Executive Vice President, Vice President for Economic Development, Vice President for External Affairs, and Vice President for Student Affairs. She has served the College for over 26 years, beginning her career as Student Services Director on the Elbert County Campus of Athens Technical College and later transitioning to the main campus to become the Registrar.

She holds a doctorate in business administration from Northcentral University, an M.A. in Public Administration from the University of Georgia, and a B.A. in political science from Lander University.
