Philanthropy always plays a critical role in our community. Especially during times of public emergency, private philanthropic support can help local organizations tremendously. At the Athens Area Community Foundation, we encourage you to support organizations that work with those individuals and families who are at risk in our community.

The COVID-19 Community Response Fund at the Athens Area Community Foundation has been established to support local nonprofit organizations as they work to respond to the spread of COVID-19.

“In our role as a Community foundation, we need to mold, shift, and shape our giving to the needs of our neighbors. Today, local nonprofits are working diligently to augment, adapt, increase, and decrease services in response to the current pandemic. While there is a great deal of uncertainty, we do know in the coming weeks and months there will be growing needs of our neighbors,” says Sarah McKinney, President|CEO of the Athens Area Community Foundation.

You can help. Anyone can make a donation to the COVID-19 Community Response Fund. Donations will be distributed to nonprofits meeting pressing needs associated with the pandemic in our community. The Athens Area Community Foundation will work with local partners to collect information associated with the impact of the COVID-19 Coronavirus. We will coordinate to deploy resources as rapidly as possible.
