The UGA J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development advisory board received an update on the institute’s 2020-2025 strategic plan during its fall meeting on Dec. 5.

“Our advisory board plays a vital role in guiding the strategic direction of the Fanning Institute,” said Matt Bishop, director of the Fanning Institute. “The unique perspective each of our advisory board members brings to our work in leadership development will further inform our strategic plan and help shape our work over the coming years to build a stronger Georgia through leadership development.”

During the meeting, held at the J.W. Fanning Building on the University of Georgia campus, Bishop also updated the advisory board on the institute’s ongoing programs and initiatives.

“The past year has been an incredibly busy one at the Fanning Institute as we continue to expand our work across the state,” said Bishop. “It is always exciting to share the tremendous work our faculty, staff and students are doing with our advisory board members and hear their input to further develop leaders of all ages across Georgia.”

Members of the Fanning Institute advisory board represent a wide range of leadership experience and come from a variety of backgrounds in business, civic and community affairs, nonprofit organizations and higher education.

“The last five years have seen the Fanning Institute grow tremendously and as a board, we applaud the institute’s faculty, staff and students for their efforts and the impact their work is having,” said Jimmy Allgood, chairman of the institute’s advisory board. “We also look forward to the completion of the strategic plan as the institute charts a path to continue building stronger communities and organizations across Georgia.”
