LAD Records Management Adds Hard Drive Shredding, Acquires Competitor

Staff Report From Athens CEO

After years of education, consumers and businesses have finally gotten the message: it is vital to secure and destroy important documents to prevent identity theft. But according to many experts, businesses and individuals aren’t taking enough precautions when disposing of computers, creating opportunities for hackers to steal vital personal, customer or corporate data when aging machines are thrown away.

Local business LAD Records Management seeks to address this business gap by being the first local company to offer data and hard drive destruction services.  The company has grown into one of the region’s leading document and record management, storage and destruction companies since opening its doors in early 2015.

“Our goal is simple: to help our clients store and protect information that is vital to their business and customers,” said LAD Vice President Dutch Guest.  “Being able to guarantee destruction of data with a hard drive shredder is one of the most important ways companies can protect their own interests and their clients’ identities.”

LAD Records Management is headquartered in Watkinsville but serves clients across the region. The company also recently acquired the document management business of Eagle Document Management, growing its footprint into the metro Atlanta area.  Guest expects the company to continue broadening its customer base.

“Athens, Northeast Georgia, Gwinnett County and all of Metro Atlanta are hubs for technology-driven businesses as well as professional service businesses that store a tremendous amount of confidential data,” said Weston Kiley, manager of LAD Records Management. “We have a relentless focus on customer service and are constantly upgrading our software and systems to allow customers to view an inventory of all documents we store along with certified records of the documents and data we have destroyed.”

LAD Records Management is one of the company’s four divisions; the others are LAD Truck Lines, LAD Logistics and LAD Warehousing & Distribution.  In addition to hard drive destruction, the company offers scanning, bulk shredding, residential shredding, and office shredding as well as record storage and warehousing in a 24/7 secured environment that is monitored by closed-circuit cameras.
