Susan Chatham Bogardus, market president and senior vice president, and Lorie Petersen, vice president and business development officer for BankSouth’s Watkinsvillebranch, recently presented a check in the amount of $10,000 to the Piedmont Athens Regional Foundation to support the Clay Community Care Clinic.

"Our community partners are incredibly kind and generous," said Steven Dasher, executive director of the Piedmont Athens Regional Foundation. "The Clay Community Care Clinic is a vital resource in our community, providing primary care to all adult patients regardless of their insurance status. BankSouth’s donation will support the clinic’s work and broaden its impact in Athens."

In addition to providing patients with high-quality primary care, the Clay Community Care Clinic also has specialty clinics. This allows Piedmont Athens Regional to provide comprehensive medical care for every patient, regardless of age, race, gender, ability to pay, or insurance status.

Piedmont Healthcare is a federally certified 501(c)3 nonprofit community hospital system. As a nonprofit, gifts are a vital part of supporting our mission, and directly benefit the health and wellness of patients in our community. The Piedmont Athens Regional Foundation Board of Directors has identified the Clay Community Care Clinic as an area of priority during their current campaign. A donation to these key programs supports our patients, employees, and community in many ways.

"We are proud to support Piedmont Athens Regional, the Foundation, and the Clay Community Care Clinic," said Bogardus. "Our business thrives when the communities we serve thrive. By investing in the health and wellbeing of Athens and surrounding communities, BankSouth can contribute to people's lives in a different and very meaningful way.”
