The University of Georgia Terry College of Business extended its global accreditation with AACSB International for another five years. The Terry College holds the distinction of having been continuously accredited since 1926.

AACSB champions quality and excellence in business education, and its accreditation standards have been met by less than 6 percent of the world’s business schools.

“Every AACSB-accredited school has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development, and student learning,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB. “The intense peer-review process exemplifies their commitment to quality business education.”

To maintain accreditation, the Terry College and its Tull School of Accounting undertook a multiyear process of developing and implementing a plan to align with AACSB’s accreditation standards. These standards require business schools to demonstrate excellence in strategic management and innovation, teaching and learning, academic and professional engagement, and active participation by students, faculty and staff. Accounting accreditation requires an additional set of standards specific to the discipline of accounting.

“The mission of the Terry College of Business is the pursuit and dissemination of knowledge to educate and inspire future leaders and promote the effective and ethical practice of business. We are committed to providing innovative and market-leading programs that prepare our graduates to be leaders in their organizations and communities,” said Dean Ben Ayers. “The accreditation review process was thorough, and the external review teams commented very positively on the quality of our programs, students, faculty and staff, impressive student outcomes, and strong alumni engagement.”

Founded in 1916, AACSB is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools. There are 965 institutions in more than 60 countries that have earned AACSB business accreditation, and 194 institutions hold supplemental AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.
