Athens Academy Student Selected for Robotics Board

Athens Academy is pleased to announce that junior Thomas Meyer is one of four students from the state of Georgia selected to serve on the inaugural FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics State Officer Board. Along with his fellow board members, Thomas will be advising the GaFIRST.org state committee on how to improve robotics/STE(A)M opportunities for school robotics teams in Georgia.

According to their website, Georgia FIRST’s mission is to “inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.”

State officers will meet twice a month via Microsoft Teams to plan events for robotics students for the spring and into the next school year.
