GDEcD’s Director of Life Sciences EJane Caraway Earns Georgia Bio 2021 Industry Growth Award

Director of Life Sciences for Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) EJane Caraway was recognized with a coveted Industry Growth Award from Georgia Bio (GaBio), the state’s Life Science trade association, for the incredible impact she has made in growing Georgia’s Life Sciences industry.

The Industry Growth Awards are the highest honors bestowed each year by Georgia Bio. This year, during Georgia Bio’s virtual Golden Helix Awards, both EJane Caraway and President of the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) Susan Shows were recognized. The annual Golden Helix Awards celebrates the contributions and achievements of Georgia legislative, academic, corporate, and other organizational leaders working to advance the growth of the Life Sciences industry and foster strategic partnerships that can create a healthier world.

A distinguished member of GDEcD’s Global Commerce division, EJane Caraway leads the Life Sciences team in providing assistance to companies considering establishing or expanding their presence in Georgia. Since joining GDEcD in the fall of 2009, and working closely with organizations across Georgia to grow the state’s Life Science community, EJane has lead more than 160 economic development projects, with companies including Google, NCR, Anthem, Greenway Health, Boehringer Ingelheim, Jindal Poly Film, Takeda, and Facebook – to name a few. Projects led by EJane have generated over $5.9 billion in capital investment and created more than 17,500 jobs for Georgians

EJane’s membership affiliations include the Georgia HIMSS Board, GA Bio Board, President Innovation Crescent Board, Georgia Economic Developers Association, Southeast Development Council, Korean Southeast U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and several others. She is honored to receive this award, and very grateful for the many companies, universities, and organizations in Georgia’s Life Science community that contribute to industry growth.

A native of Tennessee and a Georgian by choice, EJane holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from East Tennessee State University and is a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional. EJane has also led Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society and has served the Boy Scouts of America for many years

Georgia Bio is the state’s life science advocacy and business leadership industry association with members including pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies, medical centers, universities and research institutes, government groups and other business organizations involved in the development of Life Sciences related products and services.
