UnitedHealthcare Appoints Junior Harewood CEO of Georgia and Alabama Health Plan

Junior Harewood has been named CEO, UnitedHealthcare of Georgia and Alabama Employer and Individual Health Plans. In his new role, Junior will be responsible for UnitedHealthcare’s commercial business growth and management in Georgia and Alabama, serving as the key leader of the senior management team and primary face to the community. 

Junior has an extensive background with UnitedHealthcare and vast knowledge of the Southeast region. During his 25-year career with UnitedHealthcare, he has held roles as Vice President of Sales, Director of Sales, Account Executive and, most recently, Executive Director. 

As executive director of the Georgia employer and individual health plans, Junior acted as the market lead responsible for commercial sales and account management responsibilities as well as leading day-to-day internal operations. In addition, he worked closely with community and civic leaders, brokers, healthcare providers and customers, providing legislative and regulatory oversight.

Junior is a graduate of St. John’s University in New York where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Government & Politics. He is currently complete the Executive MBA program at the University of Georgia. Junior regularly volunteers at the Atlanta Community Food Bank, is an alumnus of the United Way Volunteer Involvement Program and is a member of Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Leadership Trust Committee. He also serves on the board of Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia.
