Gov. Kemp Designates Auxiliary Emergency Management Workers, Emergency Management Activities

Governor Brian P. Kemp issued Executive Order 04.14.20.01 to designate healthcare institution and medical facility employees, staff, and contractors as "auxiliary emergency management workers." For the duration of the Public Health State of Emergency, this order will limit the civil liability of "auxiliary emergency management workers" engaging in "emergency management activities" while providing patient care if such care results in the death or injury of a patient. "Healthcare institutions" and "medical facilities" include, but are not limited to, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, nursing homes, assisted living communities, personal care homes, health testing facilities, infirmaries, diagnostic and treatment centers, and public health centers. Applicable statutes include O.C.G.A. 31-7-1(A) and (C)-(G) and O.C.G.A. 38-3-5.
