Junior League of Athens to Hold Women’s Leadership Institute August 24th

Staff Report From Athens CEO

Tuesday, August 20th, 2019

The Junior League of Athens will play host to its third annual Women’s Leadership Institute from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 24 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center’s Medical Services Building.

The Junior League of Athens is a network of empowered female civic leaders working with community partners to address and solve pressing issues. The organization is part of an international network of 291 Leagues comprised of more than 150,000 women in Canada, Mexico, the U.K. and the U.S. engaged in similar work in their own communities. This provides a unique and powerful depth of knowledge and resourcefulness to bring about the changes League members strive to accomplish.

Topics will range from budgeting to delegating to negotiating. Speakers include the following: Allie Cox, Ph.D., who is the director of Training & Development at the University of Georgia, where she leads a team of professionals in the design and delivery of workplace learning programs for more than 10,000 faculty and staff members; Ellen Bryson, owner and president of Bryson Trails Consulting, who serves as a business coach that helps CEOs and executive teams create smart, healthy organizations that achieve great results; and Katie Waters, founder and CEO of Stable Waters Financial, a fee-based financial planning firm based in Athens with clients across the country.

“Each year I learn new things about myself and new skills that have benefited me as a volunteer and at work. I have also enjoyed the opportunity to meet other women in our community at WLI,” said Caitlin Askins, JLA president. “Each talk will be delivered by a strong, empowered female leader in our community. I cannot wait to hear from them and to meet new ladies at this event.”

This one-day training is open to the public and meant to empower and celebrate women in leadership. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. RSVP at https://bit.ly/2Kre5oH.
