Seven attorneys at Blasingame, Burch, Garrard & Ashley, P.C. (BBGA) have been selected to the 2019 Super Lawyers List. Five shareholders were selected to the Super Lawyers list and two shareholders were selected to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.

Henry G. Garrard III is an experienced Athens personal injury and plaintiffs’ litigation lawyer at BBGA. He is Co-lead counsel for the largest multi-district litigation in U.S. history, and has handled many complex injury claims including medical malpractice and products liability cases, qui tam litigation, tort liability, and class action lawsuits. This is Garrard’s 16^th consecutive year to be chosen for inclusion on the Super Lawyers List.

Drew Hill has been selected to the Super Lawyers List 16 years. While Hill’s practice focuses on many different types of personal injury cases, including medical negligence and products liability, he also handles complex mass torts (medical devices and opioid litigation) and truck accident cases. Hill recently obtained a confidential eight-figure settlement for a client who suffered catastrophic injuries because of a trucking company’s negligence.

Jim Matthews’ has been selected to the Super Lawyers List 16 years. He won a $3.23 million settlement for a veteran paralyzed because of a VA hospital’s negligence and is co-lead counsel in all cases involving mesh products made by C.R. Bard, Inc.

Evan Jones has been included on the Super Lawyers list for 15 years. Jones is a skilled personal injury attorney whose focus is primarily on catastrophic injury cases, including those resulting from nursing home negligence or abuse, and medical malpractice. Jones secured a large seven-figure settlement for the wrongful death of a nursing home resident and has secured over $50 million in verdicts and settlements.

Rob Huestis has been selected as a Georgia Super Lawyer for the sixth straight year. As a litigator with nearly 20 years’ experience, Huestis maintains a comprehensive motions, trial, and appeals practice focusing on business disputes, professional malpractice, employment-related contract disputes, and corporate-governance law. In a recent business-divorce jury trial, he defeated all claims and recovered 100 percent of his client’s attorney’s fees and expenses defending a medical practice that was sued by a former physician of the practice.

Michael Ruppersburg has been selected to the Super Lawyers Rising Star List for 8 years. He is a trial lawyer whose primary focus is helping people who have been seriously injured and families who have lost a loved one due to the negligence of others. Ruppersburg has secured over $20 million in verdicts and settlements and in 2018 alone secured more than $3.5 million for clients in premises liability, car, and tractor-trailer wreck cases.

Patrick Garrard has been selected to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list for 5 years. He is currently representing more than 80 Georgia counties suing opioid manufacturers and distributors for the direct and human costs of the opioid crisis.
