Odyssey Media Group Earns Accolades Once Again

Once again Clarke Central High School's Odyssey Media Group has earned accolades at the national level from the National Scholastic Press Association, Columbia Scholastic Press Association and Quill and Scroll Honor Society.   Honors were earned by the Iliad Literary-Art Magazine and the Odyssey Newsmagazine as well as individual students.

National Scholastic Press Association

The 2018 Iliad Literary-Art Magazine received a First Class evaluation by the National Scholastic Press Association.  The publication received Marks of Distinction for Photography/Arts/Graphics, Design, and Concept.  First Class publications must score a minimum of 450 points.  The Iliad rated 463 points as a total score.

The 2017-2018 ODYSSEY Newsmagazine received an All-American evaluation by the National Scholastic Press Association. The publication received Marks of Distinction for Coverage and Content, Text, Visuals and Presentation. The ODYSSEY received 455/500 points as a total score.

The 2017-2018 ODYSSEY Newsmagazine was named a Pacemaker Finalist on Sept. 17. The ODYSSEY was one of 67 publications from across the country to be named a finalist.

Mackenzie Caudill was named a finalist for Digital Story of the Year: Multimedia Feature Story Package - “Hottest Corner in Town”; Honorable Mention

Karla Dougan was named a finalist for Digital Story of the Year: Blog - “The Road to Recovery”; Second Place

Elena Webber was named a finalist for Digital Story of the Year: Blog - “From Me To You”; Honorable Mention

Elena Gilbertson Hall was named a finalist for Story of the Year: News - “Confronting History”; Honorable Mention

Violet Merritt was named a finalist for Design of the Year: Literary/Speciality Magazine Page/Spread; Third Place

Violet Merritt and Natalie Ripps were named finalists for Design of the Year: Literary/Speciality Magazine Page/Spread; Honorable Mention

Zoe Peterson was named a finalist for Picture of the Year: Environmental Portrait; First Place

Columbia Scholastic Press Association

The 2017-18 Clarke Central Odyssey Newsmagazine/Odyssey Media Group (website) rated a Gold Medalist designation in the Columbia Scholastic Press Association's Scholastic News Hybrid Print/Digital Critique for 2018. Overall, the hybrid publications received 830/1000 points.

The 2017-18 Odyssey Newsmagazine/Odyssey Media Group (website) was named a Hybrid General Magazine Crown Finalist from CSPA.

The 2018 Clarke Central Iliad Literary-Art Magazine rated a Gold Medalist designation in the Columbia Scholastic Press Association's Scholastic Literary Magazine Critique for 2019. Overall, the publications received 874/1000 points and received All-Columbian Honors for Essentials.

The ODYSSEY Newsmagazine/ODYSSEY Media Group (website) received Superior Evaluations for General Practices, Coverage, Visuals, Writing/Editing and Digital Media from the Quill and Scroll Honor Society, thus earning a Henry Gallup Award - top recognition- for Comprehensive News Multimedia.  ODYSSEY publications have received Gallup Awards from the Quill and Scroll Honor Society for the last 10 years.
