ACC Leisure Services Department Receives Georgia Recreation and Park Association Awards

The Athens-Clarke County Department of Leisure Services was recently honored by the Georgia Recreation and Park Association with awards recognizing outstanding achievement.

Stacie Norris, an administrative secretary with the Leisure Services Department, received the GRPA Distinguished Administrative Support Staff award. This award honors individuals who have made outstanding and lasting contributions to the administrative aspect of the recreation profession. This is the second time that a Leisure Services employee has received this award.

Bennie Roberson was recognized with the GRPA District 7 Volunteer Award for his service at the Morton Theatre. This award recognize volunteers whose efforts have had a lasting, positive effect on parks, recreation or leisure service programs. Mr. Roberson is the theatre’s most experienced volunteer usher having contributed more than 400 hours of service since he began his tenure.

“It is a source of pride that our peers continue to recognize our staff and volunteers,” said Kent Kilpatrick, ACC Leisure Services Department Director. “The Department is fortunate to have incredible staff and volunteers who help make all our parks and facilities essential to life in Athens-Clarke County.”
