Patients already enrolled in Ambetter from Peach State Health Plan, an insurance product made available through the Affordable Care Act, or area residents looking for expanded 2019 Marketplace health plan options will have increased access to healthcare services, thanks to a recent agreement signed between Piedmont Healthcare and Ambetter.

The agreement, which will become effective on Dec. 1, brings Piedmont Healthcare’s full complement of facilities and physician services, which includes more than 2,000 Piedmont Clinic physicians, into Ambetter from Peach State Health Plan’s network and allows patients, including those in the Athens-area, to access Piedmont’s complete range of medical services at full plan benefit levels.

“As a result of this agreement, patients and their family members have more choices when deciding where to receive healthcare services and they can rest assured knowing they have access to the high-quality, patient-centered care Piedmont Athens Regional is known for providing,” said Charles Peck, M.D., president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Piedmont Athens Regional.

Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center is a 359-bed non-profit hospital and regional referral center serving a 17-county service area in Athens and northeast Georgia.

In addition to hospital services, there are also more than 60 Piedmont Clinic physicians’ offices located in Athens-Clarke and surrounding counties, providing the full array of high-quality medical services of Piedmont Athens Regional to patients enrolled in Ambetter from Peach State Health Plan.

“We are committed to offering members a variety of services and resources tailored to their needs. This includes a network of providers available to them right in their communities,” said Patrick Healy, president and CEO of Peach State Health Plan. “Our agreement with Piedmont Athens enhances our ability to deliver quality healthcare coverage that fits our members’ lifestyles and budgets.”
