Piedmont ARMC Names New COO

Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center is welcoming a new chief operations officers.

Jason Smith has more than 15 years experience in the healthcare industry and most recently served as the chief nursing officer at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

“We are pleased to welcome Jason to Piedmont Athens Regional. He is an excellent addition to this hospital’s leadership team,” Dr. Charles Peck, president and CEO of Piedmont Athens Regional, said. “He brings a strong passion and ability to engage all levels of hospital operations.”

While at Piedmont Newnan, Smith was instrumental during the openings of the hospital’s level III neonatal intensive care unit and an 18-bed medical unit. He has also served as executive sponsor and lead for other major Piedmont projects that have resulted in several million dollars in savings.

In his new role at Piedmont Athens Regional, Smith will oversee a large portion of hospital operations. As an Athens native, he looks forward to returning home.
