Wednesday, October 27th, 2021

United Way of Northeast Georgia hosted its annual Days of Caring Oct. 18-23, 2021, a weeklong volunteer opportunity for community members and businesses in the organization’s region. This year, more than 200 volunteers lent a hand at 17 project sites by helping mulch, plant, landscape, paint, host a pumpkin party for families facing homelessness, build a boat rack, collect clothes and more.

Days of Caring volunteers included individual community members as well as teams from local businesses and community groups. Companies and groups who volunteered included: Athens Area Chamber of Commerce staff and a LEAD Athens team, Avants Management Group, Caterpillar, Inc., Clarke County School District - Community Engagement Department, Creature Comforts Brewing Company, First American Bank & Trust, Golden Pantry, New Urban Forestry, North Oconee Rotary, Rotary Club of Classic City, Rotary Club of Athens, St. Mary’s Health Care, Truist, UGA’s Doctors without Borders, and UGA - Facilities Management Division. Synovus and Georgia Power also have teams to volunteer as part of our Days of Caring at a later date. Additionally, Cofer’s Home and Garden and UGA donated plants and mulch to various projects.

Days of Caring is United Way of Northeast Georgia’s annual community-wide volunteer week. Projects often include landscaping work, maintenance and refurbishing, and general clean up at local nonprofits and schools in the region.
