UGA Law School Graduates Post 100% Passage Rate for Georgia Bar Exam

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Friday, May 24th, 2019

The University of Georgia School of Law is pleased to share that 100% of first-time takers for the February 2019 bar examination passed, according to the Board of Bar Examiners and the Supreme Court of Georgia’s Office of Bar Admissions. This is the highest percentage among Georgia’s six law schools.

“The Law School is pleased with the most recent Georgia bar results, another proof point in our mission to be the nation’s best return on investment in legal education,” UGA School of Law Dean Peter B. “Bo” Rutledge said. “A much smaller group takes this exam (in comparison to the July one), and all of our first-time takers passed. This success contributes greatly to the school’s ultimate bar passage rate – a rate that, in recent years, has been roughly 95% or higher. We also recognize those who did not receive the news that they hoped for and remain deeply committed to their success. I extend my appreciation to the law school’s hardworking bar passage study committee for its continued work, including the “BEST” program, pursuing best practices, helping produce the State’s highest first-time pass rate on the benchmark July exam for five straight years, and assisting all of our students with bar passage. We continue to stand alongside each and every one of our graduates in their pursuit to pass the bar.”
